Do you have any of the following: TMJ, fibromyalgia, migraines, tension headaches or orofacial pain due to trauma, excessive physical stress, arthritis of TMJ, whiplash injury, psychosocial distress (stress), jaw abnormalities, bruxism, muscles and or neurologic issues? Therapeutic botox may be the right option for you.
Alternative therapeutic treatments which could help some of these symptoms include trigger point injections, the use of ethyl chloride spray to help relieve deep muscle pain, and botox injections. Botox has been FDA approved for more than twelve therapeutic uses. TMJ, headaches, and orofacial pain can statistically affect more than 25% of the population.
Accomplishing the best outcome for patients will require collaboration with other physicians such as dentists, physicians, nurses, orthodontists, ophthalmologists, ear, nose, and throat, neurologists, rheumatologists, physical therapists, psychologists, and alternative medicine therapies.
If you have any symptoms of tension headaches, bruxism, myalgia, myofascial pain, migraines, muscle spasms, TMJ disorders, limited range of motion of cervical spine, grinding of teeth, and / or atypical facial pain, then you may be a good candidate for treatment. If you have any of the following conditions, you may not be a good candidate for these treatments and should be referred by a specialist: myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, lambert-eaton syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, parkinson's, or have allergies to lidocaine, botox, or human albumin. Botox has not been trialed on pregnant or lactating women and, therefore, should not be used for them.
