Tox FAQS
Neuromodulators binds to the nerve endings of the specific muscle injected within a few hours. It relaxes the muscle over time with max results typically within 2 weeks. Once these muscles are relaxed, it decreases their ability to move as freely and thus prevents deeper lines from forming. With the decreased movement your body is able to remodel the layers of collagen under the skin, allowing a smoother appearance to develop. Commonly, neuromodulators lasts three to four months and requires reinjection to maintain the appearance of facial smoothness.
Patient must be in good health with no active skin infections in the areas to be treated.Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment. Alcohol can thin the blood, which increases the risk of bleeding and bruising. Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications ideally, for a period of 1 to 2 weeks before treatment.
Its best to schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks on either end of a facial treatment such as microdermabrasion, brow waxing, microblading, peels and facials. Optimally you also want to plan 2-3 weeks before a special occasion, i.e., wedding, vacation, etc. etc. This allows adequate time for the wrinkle relaxer to take full effect, as well as allow for any bruising to resolve or a touch up treatment to take place.
Abrasive face washes, scrubs, massages, and facials should be avoided for up to two weeks post-injection, but other normal face regimens such as face washing, and moisturizers can be used 4-5 hours after treatment. Tight hats should also be avoided for the first 24 hours to not move the neurotoxin to another muscle group.
Neuromodulators are intended for use with individuals 18 or older, not allergic to any of its ingredients, and are not currently pregnant or actively breastfeeding. Certain neuro muscular conditions can also disqualify you from treatment. Further discussion of any preexisting conditions may be needed prior to scheduling an appointment. Neuromodulators are utilized to address mild to moderate facial creases and wrinkles around your eyes and forehead area. It can also be used to provide you with a “Wrinkle Relaxed Brow Lift” if desired which opens the eye area and helps with mild lid droop. Give us a call if you have any questions, we would be happy to discuss this treatment with you further!
